Christina Aguilera joins Michael Jackson concert, Justin Bieber declines

The giant ‘Michael Forever’ tribute concert set to occur in Wales on October 8 has just announced its first line of stars. Acts will include Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green and JLS. But Chris Brown and Justin Bieber refused.

The show will also feature several of Michael’s brothers, who are promoted as “the next generation of Jacksons,” and the group ’3T,’ which stars Tito Jackson’s three sons.

Alternative rocker ‘Alien Ant Farm’ and R&B star Craig David will also perform, so will Jay-Z. And other stars are due to be added in the next few days, so the organizers have said.

“This is just the beginning, we have many more to announce,” says Paul Ring, boss of ‘Global Live Events’ which is running the show. “This concert will unite various generations and musical genres, reminding everyone just how amazing a talent Michael was.”

Fans will need to register on the show’s web site to buy tickets. You can start applying today and a lottery will then decide who receives the prized passes.

Set to occur in the 75,000-seat ‘Millennium Stadium’ in the heart of Wales the concert will run for around four hours, but its exact content is still being decided.

“Fans of Michael’s music will get the concert they’ve been waiting for,” Global’s CEO Chris Hunt assured fans on the firm’s web site last week.

But the trial of Michael’s former physician, Dr. Conrad Murray is expected to be in progress at that time and Michael’s brothers, Randy and Jermaine have refused to appear for that reason;

“We feel it’s inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event,” says their statement, explaining that the choice of date “disrespects opinions and wishes expressed by members of the Jackson family.”

Even Michael Jackson’s Fan Club agrees; “Everyone’s care and attention should be focused on the matter of justice,” they said. “We believe the most important tribute we can give Michael Jackson is to seek justice in his name.”

A portion of the proceeds will support charities such as The Aids Project LA and The Prince’s Trust. You can find out more info and get tickets here…
