The California Highway Patrol confirms that pop star Justin Bieber received a citation for reckless driving early Friday after officers clocked the crooner zipping down the 101 Southland Freeway, near Calabasas, at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour (mph).
Bieber weaved in and out of traffic from behind the wheel of his souped-up silver Fisker Karma as he doggedly dodged photographers who were pursuing him. Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine called the police after witnessing Justin’s erratic driving. The politician told TMZ:
“Bieber was driving like a maniac. He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane. If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship. He was a maniac.”
The Fisker Karma is a hybrid powered sports car made in Finland and valued at $100,000. The vehicle has a top speed of 125 mph and can go from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. In March, the car was presented to Justin by his manager Scooter Braun in celebration of the star’s 18th birthday.
This isn’t the first time Justin has been caught speeding. Last year, the “Baby” hit-maker was pulled over in his customized black Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. He was let off with a warning.
