Missy Franklin Receives Justin Bieber Video Message

by Firecracker at August 6, 2012 2:13 pm

Missy Franklin had no idea that casually saying that she's a fan of Justin Bieber's would lead to her receive a Tweet and a concert invite from the Biebus. Justin is good to his fans, except when they're incredibly annoying, so he's taken it a step further for Team USA's Missy Franklin. Justin recorded a video message for Missy and it aired during her interview with NBC. The Colorado native has earned four Gold medals and she's only 17! Her reaction to the video is pretty cute. Congrats Missy!

Missy Franklin: Justin Bieber Sends Her a Tweet

by Firecracker at July 31, 2012 3:19 pm

During an Olympic pre-competition special on NBC yesterday, 17 year-old gold medalist Missy Franklin said that she's a big Justin Bieber fan. The humble teenager actually won her very first gold medal for the 100-Meter Backstroke. But if being the best in the world wasn't enough for the rising star, getting a Tweet from Biebus made it even better.

Justin Tweeted: "heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove,"

Missy, real name Melissa (thank God), responded with: "I just died! Thankyou."

I admire Justin and the people who write his Tweets for being so thoughtful.

Missy still has five more events to compete in. She has already earned a relay Bronze and an individual Gold. Congrats Missy!

Missy Franklin grabs Gold; Gets a Tweet from Justin Bieber

17-year old Missy Franklin captured our nation last night when she won Gold in 100M Backstroke.

The Colorado native set an American record with 58.33 seconds last night, after 14 minutes before, she qualified in the 200m freestyle.

“It was absolutely unbelievable,” Missy said of beng on the podium, listening to the National Anthem play. “I was trying to sing but I was like crying at the same time. I forgot the words because I didn’t know what I was doing. I was just a huge mess. Seeing that flag being raised was so incredibly unbelievable. I never dreamed it would feel like that. It just sort of — all the things I have gone through passed through my mind. The early-morning wake-ups, the practices, the doubles, all the meets I have been to, all the friends I have made — just everything kind of leading up to that moment, it was so unbelievably worth it.”

NBC aired a piece about Franklin’s life at home and mentioned that like most 17-year olds, Missy is a fan of Justin Bieber. “heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove,” Justin tweeted to Missy. A couple of hours later, Missy responded….”I just died! Thankyou!”
